Contract overreach by Cabinet

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Regarding the Integrity Commission Bill Clause 52, the Government of Jamaica recently passed in the Senate legislation that gives Cabinet supreme and sole control over contracts involving the money of the people of Jamaica?

Cabinet can decide not to disclose ANY INFORMATION regarding a transaction pertaining to the finances of Jamaica, because they CHOOSE not to? So if there is something questionable in a contract, Cabinet need disclose this information only to its members?

Fortunately, even with the justice minister indicating that there may be more amendments, is Jamaica is now a fiefdom and Cabinet decided not to disclose that info to the people of Jamaica?
