Sex discrimination at Champs

Published:Sunday | March 25, 2018 | 12:00 AM

THE EDITOR, Sir:

It's amazing that in this day and age, there is no gender balance in the use of mascots at the Boys' and Girls' Athletic Championships. There is only one obviously male figure called Champsy.

This lack of equity naturally causes discomfort among some male victors, who understandably shy away from being hugged by a strange man in their great moment of glory.

We need a Champsya (or Champseea) to balance the equation. Perhaps she could be modelled on the beautiful Davina Bennett.
