Kudos to the Government

THE EDITOR, Madam:

As the COVID-19 pandemic sweeps through across the world, causing stress, and pain for everyone; I would like to commend Andrew Holness, prime minister of Jamaica; Dr Christopher Tufton, minister of health and wellness; and Dr Jacquiline Bisasor-McKenzie, chief medical officer, for the hard work they are putting in.

Commendations for, among others:

• providing space for the quarantining of persons;

• regulating the size of public gatherings;

• regular press briefings;

• closure of borders and schools;

• providing additional funds for front-line workers;

• offering financial assistance

• providing transportation for healthcare workers;

• imposing nightly curfews

The jobs of the prime minister and minister of health are not easy, and especially in this present crisis, one wonders if they sleep at nights. The country humbly asks their wives to pardon them, if they call Corona’s name in their sleep, as at this time it is completely understandable. Now is not the time to be pointing fingers or to be mean to each other.

We should take the time to be as loving, caring and kind as it is virtually possible, we all should support the PM and his team in this time of crisis.
