Develop tech cities in Jamaica

THE EDITOR, Madam:

I am a 15-year-old student of Ardenne High School, and this is a letter I wrote to Prime Minister Andrew Holness.

I was wondering about the progress of turning Kingston, Portmore, etc, into tech cities for Jamaica, and being in the new Industrial Revolution.

This is particularly because Jamaica often gets ignored or very low priority when it comes to app releases and compatibility, game releases, etc; not to mention that we aren’t even mentioned as a region when it comes to game releases. It is normally United States, Australia, Canada, European Union, United Kingdom and Japan.

I am aware that we are too small to be included separately, but perhaps we could intermingle with other Caribbean countries to become a single technological region (CAR/WI).

On technology, specifically, I have observed that Jamaica is not one of the Pan-American countries that have access to the Nintendo Switch Online service (US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile). These are some of the reasons to build tech cities, besides increasing interest in tech, and lowering prices over time.

Last, I would like to request a Jamaican animation industry.

I see on TVJ and CVM that there are not many animated shows, very few are Jamaican made. I would like more animated shows to be created in Jamaica, or even make a dedicated studio for this industry, like Disney TVA or Nickelodeon. I would be willing to help in this particular project.
