The rule of law applies to all

THE EDITOR, Madam:

The Constitution and the Supreme Court agree that if you are born in America, you are an American citizen. So why doesn’t the president?

It appears that President Trump is heading to Congress to ask it to defy the Constitution and the Supreme Court although there are indications that Congress might not support his wishes.

When will he and his support team, usually pictured standing behind him, realise that the president of the United States has to support the Constitution as he promised to do on his inauguration day? There are many laws that people dislike or want to ignore, but that is the way the normal world works.

Is President Trump seeing the world not so much through rose-coloured glasses as through his own orange-coloured ones?

The principles are simple: lead the country by following all its laws, do what is best for the people and not for yourself, and also be humble. This applies to many countries around the world.
