Chef, WATA partner for diabetes awareness
More than 500 students, teachers and parents at Stella Maris Preparatory School recognised World Diabetes Day at a special event hosted by celebrity chef/international diabetes
advocate Charles Mattocks, in partnership
with Wisynco, The Gleaner Company and other corporate entities.
Themed 'Diabetes: Protect Jamaica's Future', the breakfast event highlighted the importance of immediate action to protect the health and well-being of future generations, as well as to achieve meaningful outcomes for people with diabetes in Jamaica and those at risk.
A diverse range of interesting activities to convey the important message at the event included an exhibition, blood sugar and blood pressure checks for adults, sampling of appropriate breakfast foods, and a cooking demonstration by young chefs. A highlight was a
fitness demonstration with full audience
participation by trainer Kamila McDonald.
