Computer virus attacking Government networks, PIOJ affected

It appears a that an email containing a computer virus has been affecting the Government's networks and the Planning Institute of Jamaica, is said to be one of the government entities affected. 

The Gleaner has obtained communication sent today to members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) warning of the virus attack.

The police say they received information on the virus from the technology ministry.

According to the warning, the virus is attacking various email addresses.

It lists one of the senders as 'Paulette Smith' whose email address as psmith@ncda.org.jm.

The police say the subject of the email is 'Problems with invoices'.

There is also what appears to be an attached document titled  "New.zip".

It’s not clear the damage that can result from opening the email or its contents.
