Chris Gayle asks journalist out during live interview in Australia, branded disrespectful
West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has been branded as disrespectful for asking a journalist on a date during Australia's Big Bash League (BBL) live pitch-side interview today.
Gayle was responding to a question from Ten Sport's Melanie McLaughlin about his aggressive batting style after scoring 41 runs from 15 balls for the Melbourne Renegades.
Gayle said quote: "To see your eyes for the first time is nice. Hopefully we can have a drink afterwards. Don't blush".
A BBL statement said Gayle's comments were disrespectful and inappropriate.
BBL head Anthony Everard said they will be talking to Gayle and the Renegades about it.
The 36-year-old former West Indies captain's knock helped the Melbourne Renegades to a five-wicket win over Hobart Hurricanes.
