Some cops to wear body cameras come March
Some police officers are to begin wearing body cameras by the end of March.
That’s the word from Police Commissioner Dr Carl Williams.
It comes nearly two years after National Security Minister Peter Bunting first announced that members of select units within the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) will be fitted with body-worn cameras.
Bunting said at the time that the introduction of the cameras was aimed at improving transparency in police activities and collect evidence of criminal activities.
Speaking during a press conference yesterday, Williams revealed that the JCF is already in possession of the cameras and that members are now being trained to operate them.
