The magisterial recount of ballots cast in the general election in St Mary South East is to begin today in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.

The Jamaica Labour Party's Dr Norman Dunn was initially named the winner over the People's National Party's Dr Winston Green following the preliminary count of votes in Thursday's general election.

However, following the final count on Saturday, the results were reversed and Dr Green was declared the winner.

Dunn had initially been reported as beating Green by 127 votes, but Green won on the final count by nine votes.

The reverse of the results reduced the JLP's winning tally to 32 seats, while the PNP's seat count improved by one to 31.
