VCB thrilled after meeting tennis stars Venus and Serena #Rio2016
Jamaican sprinting great Veronica Campbell-Brown was thrilled after meeting US tennis stars Serena and Venus Williams in the Olympic Village yesterday.
Campbell-Brown, who has publicly expressed her love for tennis and her admiration for the Williams sisters, posted a picture of herself sandwiched between the pair to her social media accounts noting "I finally met my two favourite female tennis players!"
The Jamaican sprinter will be looking to add to her two Olympic gold medals in the 200m here in Rio de Janeiro. She will also form part of Jamaica's women's 4x100m relay team.
She has won a total of seven Olympic medals for Jamaica including three gold, two silver and two bronze.
Serena Williams, who has won a record 22 Grand Slam titles, including the recent Wimbledon Championships is the defending Olympic women's singles champion and also won gold with her sister Venus in the women's doubles competition at the London 2012 Games.
The pair has won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles plus gold medals at the Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008 Olympics.
Venus will also feature in the women's singles tournament here. She last won the singles gold medal at the Sydney 2000 Games. She has nine Grand Slam singles titles to her name.
