Holness says gov't must act now to implement pension reform
Prime Minister Andrew Holness is maintaining that the Government has to act now to implement pension reform in the interest of the Jamaica’s financial growth.
Holness, speaking in the parliamentary debate on the new pension bills today, stressed that the current pension system is fiscally unsustainable adding that the cost to the government and taxpayers has been an increasing expense.
He said the Government has to be fiscally responsible and contain public expenditure.
However, the Prime Minister indicated that the Government will look into the points raised by the opposition spokesman and provide a response.
The debate on the bill has been suspended until next week.
