A fire this morning gutted a section of the craft market in downtown Kingston.

The Jamaica Fire Brigade says it received a report of the fire about 2:50 this morning.

Units from the Half-Way Tree, Rollington Town and Trench Town fire stations responded.

Eighteen shops at the front of the market were destroyed, but the fire service says there was only minor damage to the interior.

Vendors this morning said they had lost everything and are seeking help from the authorities.

One vendor, Vinnett Ferguson, said she was devastated.
