Alleged fugitive scammer arrested
The US Embassy is reporting that another alleged player in the multimillion-dollar lottery scamming scheme by mastermind Lavrick Willocks has been arrested by the Jamaican police.
In custody is 23-year-old Mario Hines who is wanted in the US for multiple counts of lottery scamming and fraud.
Hines had been on the run for some time.
His arrest comes months after eight other players in the alleged lottery scam, including a former policeman, were extradited to the US on fraud and money laundering charges.
Some of them have pleaded guilty including Willocks and his mother Dahlia Hunter and are awaiting sentencing.
Other suspects are to go on trial this month in federal court in North Dakota.
US prosecutors allege that scheme reportedly bilked at least 90 Americans out of more than 5 point 7 million US dollars.
