Colours of Fall
Natalia Oh!, Contributor
As Fall rolls around, many of us, especially in Jamaica, may be trying to figure out what fashion season we are in, while being inundated with news of runway shows two seasons ahead!
This, coupled with the fact that we don't really get seasonal changes in Jamaica, makes it confusing as to what is really trending now versus what is coming next.
One cannot deny the importance of staying ahead of trends, as buyers, designers and writers need to be ahead to do their forecasting. However, today we will look at the top 10 colours for fall as chosen by Pantone, which this year covered fashion for both men and women, and makes this colour palette unisex.
Pantone maintains its authority on the world of colour and, with the collaboration of designers and decorators, have compiled their top 10 colours for Fall. This compilation represents the beauty of the past with the spirit of the present, as a fail-safe guide for us to make decisions as it relates to our makeup, jewellery, clothing, and everything in between.
According to Pantone's executive director, Leatrice Eiseman, "This is a season of untypical colours - more reflective of the imagination and ingenuity, which makes for an artful collection of colours and combinations not bound by the usual hues for fall."
Cypress
Fall's perennial green returns in a deep and sophisticated hue called Cypress. It's a majestic and powerful green with a large presence.
Royal Blue and Bright
Cobalt
Bright Cobalt offers a twist on the normal
cobalt blue - described as possessing subtle hints of green, while Royal
Blue is a gorgeous shade of navy with an indigo hue. Royal blue is a
regal colour that we associate with royalty, hence the
name.
Cognac
Cognac proposes a
classy and cultured brown that is typical to autumn tones. Think sepia,
muted and sombre. It anchors the wardrobe and is a safe neutral to play
up the very trending nude colours.
Aurora
Red
Aurora Red is described as a sophisticated shade
that adds spark and is composed with red, orange and pink
