Regional sports channel, Digicel SportsMax, announced on Thursday that the National Basketball Association (NBA) in association with Digicel and Digicel SportsMax will bring the 2015 NBA Finals and the Conference Finals to free-to-air television across the region.

The matches, Digicel SportsMax said in a release, will be made available to regional broadcasters. Digicel SportsMax kicked off the broadcast of NBA matches on March 31 on its cable subscription channels, Digicel SportsMax & Digicel SportsMax2. The two channels have already broadcast 29 games over 15 days. Coverage will continue on the two channels for the first and second round of the NBA Play-offs, beginning with the top seeded Golden State Warriors against the New Orleans Pelicans today.

The NBA Finals tip off on June 4 with a best of seven series.

As part of its wide-ranging coverage of the NBA Digicel SportsMax will also be hosting 3-on-3 tournaments during the 2015 finals. In addition to this, Digicel will also be starting NBA youth camps in the summer with NBA talent being invited to coordinate and train the Caribbean's future basketball stars.

According to SportsMax's marketing manager, Tanya Lee, the best is still to come for NBA and basketball fans in the Caribbean.

"The great thing about our partnership with the NBA is that it goes beyond our television broadcast and reaches the grassroots fans. Several activities are planned, including a 3-on-3 tourney in Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago during the NBA Finals. Digicel SportsMax is now taking the NBA to the streets in a way that has not been done before," Lee said.
