- Maurice Foster (1973) and Joy Foster are the only sibling winners of the awards.

- Sprinter Una Morris became the first repeat winner of either gender. She won the Sportswoman of the Year awards in 1963 and 1945.

- Sarah Newland (1965) and Octavius Moran (1967) are the only Paralympian to win the award.

- Orville Haslam (1968) is the only table tennis player to win the Sportsman of the Year award.
