Reggae Girlz defender Lauren Silver has signed a professional contract with top-flight Norwegian club Trondheims Ørn.

Trondheims is one of Norway's most popular women's football clubs, boasting a record seven Norwegian Women's Premier League titles.

The Florida-based Reggae Girl, who has 18 caps with the national women's senior team, becomes head coach Steinar Lein's first major signing in 2019, after the 25 year-old put pen-to-paper on a one year contract.

Silver made the announcement on her official Instagram page stating: "I am excited to officially announce my signing to @trondheimsorn. For those of you who have followed my journey, thank you all. I am grateful for this amazing opportunity. I'm ready for a great season. "

"I'm a positive and gentle player with great stamina and high frequency. Have often played as 6's and 8's on my teams, and in Jamaica I play a lot at left back. The (Norwegian) top (league) will be a new experience for me, and I am really looking forward to getting started for Ørn and Steinar," Silver told the club's website.

Meanwhile, Lein says he is looking forward to counting on the Jamaican.

"Silver comes to Ørn to win football matches and build on an already exciting career. We get an strong player with good technique, a lot of running power and a typical winning instinct that will surely lift us both in training and in combat," says Lein.

Silver has previously played for clubs in the US, Sweden, France and Scotland.

Born in Florida, Silver played college football for the University of Florida from 2011 to 2014. She chose to represent Jamaica, her grandfather's grandfather, and played a vital role as Jamaica secured the bronze in the Concacaf championship behind the US and Canada and a historic trip to France this summer - as the first women's team from the Caribbean in a World Cup final.

She becomes the third Reggae Girl to sign international deals recently after Trudi Carter and Allyson Swaby moved to Italian Serie A Women's League team AS Roma.

Trondheims Ørn ended the last season in 10th position in the league standings.

Meanwhile, the Reggae Girlz are getting ready to face Chile in friendly internationals on February 28 at the National Stadium at 7:00 p.m. and on March 3 at the Montego Bay Sports Complex, also at 7:00 p.m.
