Frustrated Menzies quits Reggae Girlz after JFF dispute

History-making Reggae Girlz head coach Hue Menzies has decided to end his association with Jamaica's senior women's national football team, after a lengthy dispute with the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).

Menzies told The Gleaner on Tuesday that he had grown weary of the JFF ignoring his request for an update on his future with the team following the expiration of his contract in August, as well as their failure to reimburse him for personal funds used during the team's successful 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification campaign in addition to unpaid salaries.

"I have made my decision, I am not coaching the team anymore," Menzies told The Gleaner

The coach shared that after two months of none communication from the JFF hierarchy, he had to make a decision on other opportunities that had presented themselves.

"I told them that I would make a decision in 24 hours and no one has reached out to me," Menzies added.

"It is unfortunate because we put so much time and created so much history. It's not just a football job, it's more than football so obviously I am very disappointed in how the federation communicated, well the lack of communication from the federation," Menzies added.

Menzies led the Jamaicans to their first ever appearance at the FIFA Women's World Cup in France last Summer.
