A male Jamaican cruise-ship employee has been taken into custody in connection with the seizure of 50 pounds of cocaine at the Montego Bay Cruise Ship Terminal in St James yesterday.

Narcotics police arrested the crew member, who is said to be a St James resident, after a body search turned up several packages of the contraband.

The police also seized additional packages of the illegal substance in bathing suits during a subsequent search of a cabin aboard the vessel - which originates from Colombia, and makes weekly calls in Montego Bay on Mondays.

The Gleaner understands that a second crew member is also being sought in relation to the drug find.
