Susan Senior for NC St Andrew seat
Long-time Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) activist, Susan Senior, has been selected to represent the party in the by-election in the Norbrook division in North Central St Andrew.
The JLP is expected, today, to finalise its candidates to contest the four parish council by-elections ahead of Nomination Day on Wednesday, but yesterday, Senior received the endorsement of her colleagues in the party's Area Council One, which covers Kingston and St Andrew.
Senior, a 40-year-old mother of three, is the secretary of the JLP's organisation in the Karl Samuda-led North Central St Andrew. She told The Gleaner that she is taking guidance from the veteran politician who is a mentor and friend.
"If I get elected, as expected, I will be there for all the people of the division, no matter which poli-tical party they support," Senior said.
Working with everybody
"You have to be willing to work with everybody, JLP or PNP, if you are going to serve the people," added Senior.
Up to yesterday, it appeared that Senior would be elected unopposed, but she said she would welcome a challenge from a candidate representing the People's National Party.
Senior is trying to replace former JLP councillor Robert 'Chi Chi' Williams, who was killed last year.
Three other parish council divisions will be up for grabs on April 4: Duncans, Trelawny; Spanish Town, St Catherine; and Frankfield, Clarendon.
