Noranda Jamaica Bauxite Partners sponsors math software for schools

EDUCATION OFFICER in the Ministry of Education, Joy Daye, has commended Noranda Jamaica Bauxite Partners for that company's sponsorship of an innovative mathematics software learning programme presented to four high schools in St Ann.

The schools, York Castle, Aabuthnott Gallimore, St Hilda's, and Brown's Town High, received their individual software licences last Tuesday from Noranda Operations Director Delroy Dell at a function held at the company's administrative offices in Discovery Bay.

The programmes are designed by EPA Technologies to comprehensively cover the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate mathematics syllabus and other areas, using graphic illustrations, animations and narratives loaded with hundreds of questions, solutions, and corrections.

Day welcomed Noranda's contribution describing it as a powerful investment that will have a significant impact on the enhancement of educational growth in mathematics benefiting thousands of students in the region.

Noranda Personnel and Industrial Relations Manager Nathan Thompson, Elaine Peck of EPA Technologies, Noranda's training specialist Nordia Tracey, and principals and students of the four participating schools attended the presentation.
