St Mary Parish Church is bordered on one side by the beautiful Caribbean Sea and on the other by the main road leading to historic Oracabessa and Galena in the parish. It was in this idyllic spot that Angela Dawn Chuck and Richard Lee Kane said their 'I dos' on Saturday, May 7. Dawn is the daughter of House Speaker Delroy Chuck and his wife Patricia and Richard is the son of Richard and Hanna Kane of North Carolina in the United States.
Just over 245 family members and close friends filled the intimate interior of the historic church superbly decorated by ace wedding stylist Ann-Marie Wyss who stuck to the theme colours of peach and turquoise.
The radiant bride was escorted to the church by her parents who both led her to her anxious groom at the altar. Dawn wore a strapless Rosa Clara gown and her mother was resplendent in fuchsia spaghetti strapped gown from Signatures. The entire bridal party wore earrings that the bride had designed. Officiants were Reverend Charles Manderson and Reverend Rossiter Chellis. Music for the nuptials was provided by organist Dwight McBean and soloist Elizabeth Beam.
With some 160 of the guests flying into Jamaica from the United States of America, England and Canada for the wedding, Delroy Chuck welcomed them all warmly to Jamaica and urged them to return. "We recently watched the royal wedding of Prince William and Princess Catherine in England but tonight Pat and I are proud parents of our own prince and princess. This wedding brings two wonderful families together but as you leave Jamaica to return to your respectives countries, please make plans to come back soon," Chuck said.
He also used the opportunity to welcome his three political colleagues who also represented constituencies in the three neighbouring parishes where the wedding ceremony and reception were held. They were Members of Parliament Robert Montague, Shahine Robinson and Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert, the latter being his deputy in the House of Representatives.
