WESTERN BUREAU:

BARBADOS-DESIGNATED airline Redjet says it has been forced to stop accepting bookings on flights to Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica as a result of regulatory delays in both countries.

Redjet, the Caribbean's first 'Low Fares' carrier was scheduled to commence direct jet service between Jamaica's Norman Manley International Airport and Grantley Adams, Bridgetown, Barbados, as well as Trinidad in early May. However, it has been 'grounded' by the two countries since announcing its flight plans.

"Jamaicans can access fares as low as US$9.99, exclusive of the relevant sales and government taxes. And low Fares are not just a headline gimmick but are at the core of the Low Fare Airline (LFA) business model adopted by REDjet," boasted Ian Burns, Redjet's CEO at its launch at the Spanish Court Hotel in March.
