Ursula Ashenheim, former director of the United Congregation of Israelites, passed away yesterday at her residence in Bermuda. Her brother-in-law, George Ashenheim, said she died after a battle with cancer.

Ursula Ashenheim was the widow of former Gleaner Director, Richard Ashenheim, who died in 2007. She is survived by her two sons, Lewis and Michael, and four grandchildren.

"She was a lady with an attractive personality who was very fond of people, and people were also fond of her," said George Ashenheim.

"I am very sad. We all miss her terribly," he added.

The late Mr and Mrs Ashenheim migrated to Bermuda in 2006 citing the crime situation in Jamaica as their reason for leaving.

According to a family member, Ursula Ashenheim was 77 years old when she died.
