THE PROSECUTION has tendered in evidence 18 firearms which were allegedly stolen from the police armoury.

Police sergeant Russell Robinson has been on trial since last year for the alleged theft of the guns and 9,540 rounds of ammunition from the police armoury.

The crown on Wednesday also tendered in evidence more than 3,000 rounds of ammunition and the key that was allegedly taken from the van in which the guns were found.

Represented by Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Dirk Harrison, the crown is alleging that Robinson, who worked at the police armoury, stole the firearms and ammunition.

Robinson is charged with illegal possession of the firearms and ammunition.

He was allegedly held on Munster Road, Kingston 2, in February last year with the guns.

Robinson is in custody and is being represented by attorneys-at-law Valerie Neita-Robertson and Dianne Watson.

Three civilians who were charged in connection with the find pleaded guilty in the Gun Court. They were sentenced in September last year to prison terms ranging from 10-13 years.
