Singer Junior Reid is set to relaunch his JR Productions label, originally formed in 1984. He is on the verge of getting back into production full-time and reintegrating his music production house into the world of reggae and dancehall, with a new studio and operating from a new location, 39b Eastwood Park Road.
JR Productions is responsible for several hits such as Reid's own One Blood and Rapapompom, which have been redone by hip-hop mega hitmakers The Game and Lil Wayne. It was also the driving force behind the success of Junior Reid's career and that of the duo Andrew and Wada Blood, his sons. Dancehall trailblazer Ninja Man's first number-one single from the album Ting a Ling a Ling a School Pickney Sinting was produced by Junior Reid. He has also done albums for Dennis Brown, The Mighty Diamonds and Gregory Isaacs, among others.
The veteran reggae artiste, who has hits as a solo artiste and lead singer for Black Uhuru, is naturally excited. "I'm looking forward to the relaunch of the label and signing new acts," he said. "Good music is needed that can cross over and impact the world, and not just last for two months".
Currently signed to JR Productions are Andrew and Wada Blood, Bomb-A-Drop, JuJu Blood, Young-JR and Bobo Shimron.
