JLP gears up to unseat Ferguson
General Secretary of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Senator Aundre Franklin, said yesterday that the party is moving to unseat the People's National Party's (PNP) Dr Fenton Ferguson as member of parliament for Eastern St Thomas.
Yesterday, Jairzenho Bailey resigned as caretaker for the constituency, paving the way for Dr Patrece Charles Freeman to offer herself as the party's candidate in the upcoming general election.
"They both expressed a desire to see the end of the PNP's reign in the constituency," Franklin told The Gleaner.
Ferguson has been MP since 1993 when he defeated Pearnel Charles, father of Charles Freeman.
Franklin said the JLP's Central Executive will be asked to accept and ratify the candidacy of Charles Freeman to be the Party's standard bearer for Eastern St Thomas.
