You know that familiar taste. Chicken patties shaped out in signature triangular pockets and traditional Jamaican desserts like puddings and turnovers from, who else but The Brick Oven?

The 23-year-old eatery has found itself a new home, one they hope to make their permanent home.

The family-owned business was most popularly known as being located at Devon House, the business moved from that location to 2A-2D Suthermere Road and now to 49A Hope Road (beside TGI Friday's).

"Nineteen ninety-eight saw the birth of The Brick Oven, rising - not from baking powder or baking soda, but from a love for baking which I inherited from my mother along with her recipes, many of which are now being enjoyed at The Brick Oven," said part-owner Catherine Radlein at the relaunch and rebranding of The Brick Oven on September 29. Radlein expressed her thanks to all who supported them during their overhaul.

There is much more to be experienced at the revamped Brick Oven. They are keeping the original synergy, going with Devon House 'I Scream', as there is now an in-house location of the ice cream shop in the new Brick Oven.

New food items have been added to the menu, including Solomon Gundy salad, pulled barbecue chicken sandwich, Belgian waffles, Captain Jack Jerked Chicken Caeser and Gimme-Me-Bit Focaccia Pizza.

There are also two lounge areas that offer Wi-Fi service. One is available exclusively for rental for meetings or group study sessions. It also has a television and DVD player. The larger area is also available for rental for parties or any appropriate private functions but otherwise it's available for general seating.

According to the guest speaker for the opening Sandra Glasgow CEO of the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica she has passion for developing family businesses.

"The noted management guru, Peter Drucker in his book Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Practice and Principles asked the question "How do we create a society where innovation and entrepreneurship are normal, steady and continuous?" This is quite an involved question and the answer would be too complex for this brief presentation, but suffice it to say, that one important ingredient is the support of our local entrepreneurs- people like Catherine and David who have chosen this path and have persisted against all odds. An important ingredient of course, especially in this very challenging economic environment, is to be as efficient and innovative as possible," said Glasgow. " This new Brick Oven, I believe embodies those innovative qualities," she added.
