There were only smiles on the faces of the students, teachers and parents from the Edgehill School of Special Education, when Christmas came early last Saturday.

The latest beneficiary of a LIME 'Christmas of a Lifetime Moment', the school, which accommodates almost 50 students with learning disabilities, received well-needed gifts in the form of a refrigerator, standing fans, a flip-top computer and several other educational aids from the telecoms company.

"We are so pleased with this surprise from LIME," said Ruby Morgan, administrator. "We have so many needs here, and I am very happy to know that a big company like LIME took time to remember us this Christmas."

She also pointed out that she was particularly grateful to receive the computer as the one previously owned by the school was stolen.

In charge of the institution for the past 21 years, Morgan points out that the school is in desperate need of a permanent location.

"In 2009, we had to relocate to the Port Maria Community Centre, which is not an ideal location for a school like ours. It puts stress on parents, students and staff," she lamented.

"This school gives us a sense of hope," said Vinette Sterling, a parent. "It's good to know that a place that gives the community so much support is getting some help."

"This Christmas is about impacting lives for all of us at LIME. As we go around the country, we are seeking out those most in need and finding a way to make their Christmas season a little brighter," said Courtney Bell, LIME community programmes manager, who led the team of LIME elves and Santa.

Since the launch of the LIME Christmas campaign on November 17, the telecoms company, headed by a team of staff volunteers, has visited three such institutions that cater to children with special needs.

LIME has also indicated plans to visit other parishes and has a list of golden age homes and infirmaries selected for a treat.
