The second staging of 40Fied took place at he picturesque beachfront property in Parottee, St Elizabeth, on Saturday, January 14. For over three months the buzz has been in the air for this much-anticipated event. More than 95 per cent of the guests who had attended the inaugural staging last year returned and there were scores of requests from others to be included this year.

The organisers of the party traded last year's pink polo shirts for blue this year and once again the huge water bottle was on display to secure donations for the Ebenezer Home - the charity that receives part proceeds from the south coast beachfront party.

This year, things got off to a later start; some of the party people would use this as the appetiser to Rebel Salute later that night. The mosquitoes were out for a feast but they were no match for the cans of 'OFF' available and many women chose long dresses or tights to protect their delicate skin. The night sky was beautifula and with the prevailing low temperatures, the usually humid area was nice and cool.

There were two bonfires this year so that as one burnt down, the other lit up the surroundings and kept things warm. Mandeville-based Architect J. Alexander Thomas was responsible for the simple but elegant decor that included a non-slip dance floor and with DJs Nico and 47 at the controls, it was non-stop fun.

Debe Chen catered a scrumptious repast that included jerked bammy, roasted breadfruit, garlic peppered shrimp, roasted pork, and escoveitched fish. Other items included VIP Meats signature grilled lamb, Reggae Jammin burgers and all the libations you could consume, including Appleton, Tru-Juice and Absolut.

Already everyone is looking forward to next year!
