Dr Julius Garvey, son of national hero Marcus Garvey, believes Garveyism "has come back to Jamaica in full force".

"It is said that a prophet is with honour except in his own country. I think we have disproven that today," he said to loud applause. Garvey was speaking yesterday at Emancipation Park where he collected the keys to the City of Kingston on behalf of the Garvey family. He thanked all who kept Garveyism alive, and was elated it would be taught in schools.

"It will give youngsters a sense of identity, a sense of who they are, what their potential is, and how they can contribute positively to Jamaican society."
