WESTERN BUREAU:

THE FOUR persons arrested and charged in connection with the highly publicised 2011 kidnapping of a four-year-old boy from the Mount Alvernia Preparatory School in Montego Bay are slated to stand trial today during the Michaelmas session of the St James Circuit Court.

The four accused, 23-year-old cabinetmaker Jonathan Clevaugn Mitchell of Spaulding, Manchester; 22-year-old barber Trevon Tomlinson of Cornwall Courts, Montego Bay; 26-year-old counsellor Jenise Regisford of Bloomfield, Connecticut, USA and Cornwall Courts, Montego; and 18-year-old Sanjae Samuda of Paradise, Montego Bay, were advised of the trial date when they appeared in court on Monday.

Charges filed

The four are charged with kidnapping, conspiracy to kidnap and conspiracy to extort, stemming from the incident which took place on the compound of the Montego Bay-based school on the afternoon of May 3, 2011.

The child, who was reportedly taken from the school while waiting to be picked up by his parents, was later found unharmed in Manchester, and the four accused were arrested and charged.
