With deafening horns, flags, and even a three-man drum squad, 61 Red Hills Road was transformed into 'Champs Central' as Calabar High School celebrated its 23rd hold on the Mortimer Geddes Trophy after last weekend's ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Championships.

Amid the festivities at the school's chapel yesterday morning, however, it was a sombre-sounding principal, Albert Corcho, who, while congratulating the team on its impressive victory over Jamaica College and Kingston College, underlined the school's determination to ensure that those who participated did not do so to the detriment of their academic advancement.

Corcho, however, is feeling "very good" and is not surprised at their victory.

It was sheer pandemonium at Holmwood Technical High School
yesterday as the institution based in Christiana, Manchester,
celebrated its victory in the 2013 ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls'
Championships.

There was wild celebration all around when the Gleaner
team arrived at the school. Students, staff members, and the rest of
the Holmwood family joined in celebrating the Holmwood girls' fantastic
come-from-behind victory at Champs.

Holmwood, who went in as the
underdogs, rallied to dethrone title favourites and defending champions
Edwin Allen High to cop their 10th lien on the coveted title.
