Digicel slashes roaming rates
Telecoms giant Digicel is making it easier and more affordable for customers to stay connected while travelling overseas with the launch of its new 'Same Rates a Yaad, Same Rates Abroad' roaming plan.
Under its new plan, Digicel's prepaid and post-paid customers can browse the Internet, talk and send text messages while roaming in the Caribbean and the United States (US) for the same rates as they do in Jamaica.
In addition, roaming customers will not have to pay to receive calls or texts.
According to Richard Fraser, chief operating officer for Digicel, the new plan is another demonstration of how Digicel continues to be innovative and give value to its customers.
"Now with the significant savings that customers enjoy with this plan, they can relax and simply roam like they're home, while travelling in most Caribbean countries and anywhere in the US," said Fraser.
He said with Digicel's 'Same Rates a Yaad, Same Rates Abroad' plan, prepaid customers can pay a subscription fee of $1,000 for a seven-day plan.
This allows customers to make calls and browse the Internet at the same standard local rates while roaming abroad as they do in Jamaica.
"As an introductory offer, they also get to enjoy the benefits of 100 free texts while roaming," added Fraser.
Post-paid customers will pay a subscription fee of $2,000 for a 30-day plan to talk text and browse the Internet while roaming in the US and Caribbean and pay the same standard local usage rates as they do back home in Jamaica.
"We recognise that we all have an increasing need to stay connected when travelling, so we're very excited to be offering these plans to both our prepaid and post-paid customers," declared Fraser.
"We also look forward to seeing how these reduced roaming rates for Digicel customers help to advance the Government's vision of creating a more unified Caribbean through more affordable communication."
