Reggae veteran Cocoa Tea has been added to the already stellar line-up of the 25th staging of Western Consciousness, dubbed 'The Celebration of Good Over Evil', at the Montego Bay Sports Complex on Saturday.

This will be his second appearance on the show and he promises a solid set including old favourites as well as songs from his new album, Inna Di Red.

"I'm hoping to greet the people with an extra-special amount of consciousness. When I come to perform I give of my best," said Cocoa Tea.

Sharing the stage

The Israel's King artiste also added that he is happy about the new and up-and-coming reggae artistes with whom he will share the stage.

"Most of the younger generation of artistes such as Iba Mahr ... I am seeing a bright future for the younger generation."

The event, themed 'Replanting the Roots', features new artistes Jesse Royal, Uprising Roots, Nature, Iyah Blazze, Cherine and a slew of others who will share the stage with veterans John Holt, Luciano, Marcia Griffiths, I-Wayne, Junior Reid, Everton Blender, Muta Baruka, Rodney Price and more.

Worrell King, CEO of Kings of Kings Promotions, the organisers of the event, promises a "spiritual renaissance" when Western Consciousness comes to Montego Bay.

"The root of reggae music is decaying. Western Consciousness will be heading to the 'friendly city' to represent and replant the root of reggae music. The stalwarts of the industry will be represented and a new generation presented," said King.

"It will be a wonderful presentation that will not just entertain but educate."

The event is sponsored by Levi Roots, KLAS FM 89, Mikiayana, Courts, Knutsford Express, Guinness, John Swaby, House of Leeds, Island Juices, Ward Power Tools, TVJ, RE TV, Hitz FM, Irie FM, On Stage TV, Mello FM, Vybz FM, CVM TV, Linkage Radio and more.

Admission to Western Consciousness is $1,600 presold, $2,000 at the gate and $3,000 for VIP.
