2. SWEET POTATOES

If sweet potatoes happen to be your favourite staple, be prepared to pay a high price for the product this week. The asking price for a pound (454.55g) of sweet potatoes in mid-island capitals like May Pen and Spanish Town will range between $60 and $70 per pound this week, and Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market will quote those same prices. Lower-priced outlets in downtown Kingston will ask $50 this week for a pound of sweet potatoes.

3. HONG KONG SOY SAUCE

A tasty sauce that is bound to improve the flavour of your cooking, particularly the stews and soups, is Hong Kong Soy Sauce. The 296-milligram bottle currently on offer in groceries and supermarkets will shorten your spending money by $100. Water and soya bean salt are the key ingredients in the product.

4. COOKING TOMATOES

So good are supplies of cooking tomatoes in retail markets these days, the asking price in most retail outlets is $50. This price applies to Montego Bay's Charles Gordon Market. 6. MANGOES

9. MAGGI COCONUT MILK
