Silver Star Motors, a member of the Stewart's Automotive Group and Mercedes-Benz dealers in Jamaica, recently launched the latest addition to its Mercedes-Benz family of vehicles, the A-Class.

Attendees to the event, held at Silver Star's South Camp Road headquarters in Kingston, were treated like royalty. They were transported from Motor Sales and Service Limited to Silver Star Motors in fine Mercedes-Benz style, sleekness and comfort.

At the launch site, the showroom floor was immaculately adorned and stocked with the two A-Class gems of the evening, in pearl white and metallic silver.

Mercedes-Benz has completely revamped the look of the A-Class, abandoning the shape of its predecessor to fit within the pulse of a new generation class of hatchbacks. This vehicle, which gets 40 miles per gallon of petrol in city driving, boasts several nifty features. Among them are collision prevention assist for driver and passenger safety, lane keeping assist, intelligent lighting, attention assist and a command online function that allows the vehicle access to the social networking sites Twitter and Facebook, among others.

iPhone integration

There is also a comprehensive integration of the iPhone into the vehicle's operating and display concept, a first for Mercedes-Benz.

The car's interior boasts a sporty and fresh design, which gives the driver and passenger the effect of being in a real-life sports car. Some parts of the interior trim have an electroplated silver chrome finish. The sporty character of the vehicle is further emphasised by the design of the seats, both front and rear. However the trunk space - with the rear seats in the upright position - are a bit small.

The car's exterior stays true to its sportiness and is visually stunning. The two-box layout of the vehicle features defined edges and a seemless design with nothing out of place.

Young and adventurous trendsetters will definitely feel at home in this vehicle, with a retail price starting at $4.8 million for the basic package, going up to $5.9 million with extra niceties included.
