OLD HARBOUR, St Catherine:FOR THE first time since it opened its doors to the public in 1968, Caribbean Cable Company (CCC), located in Old Harbour, St Catherine, awarded two of its long-serving customers.

The company recently recognised LS Duhaney and Company Limited located in Kingston and Levon Electrical and Hardware in Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth, for their outstanding patronage.

"LS Duhaney and Company Limited is our senior distributors in the corporate area and eastern parishes of Jamaica. They hold claims to be our largest distributor of our flagship item, 2.5mm single core all colours," Michael Thomas, sales and marketing manager at CCC told Rural Express.

He said Levon Electrical and Hardware is his company's best distributor in rural and Western Jamaica, noting that "they are most loyal and have never strayed from our product line. Their purchases run right across the spectrum of our product catalogue line except for power cables."

"We pride ourselves in having the finest quality of wires that meet international standards and are certified by the Jamaica Bureau of Standards. Our products are made to comply with the British Standards specifications and are also made to Underwriters Laboratory (UL) standards," boasted Thomas.

David Sherman, managing director of LS Duhaney and Company Limited, established in 1965, hailed CCC for its quality products and longevity.

"Caribbean Cable Company is a Jamaican company and we are Jamaicans, so we try to buy certain things locally and support our economy," said Sherman. " Most things are imported these days, however, we have found the Jamaican quality of CCC to be excellent, and where the prices from Caribbean Cable on those items are good, we try to support them."

good quality

Sherman added, "It's amazing that a company like this could have survived so many years with electricity being so high in Jamaica. They have managed to stay alive and still turn out good quality. They might not be competitive on every item, but they are fast movers, and they tend to do a good job," noted Sherman.

With a 57-member staff and the tag line, 'A good connection to make', CCC's product catalogue contains single core and general cables, which provide light and power for sound systems; domestic and commercial buildings; as well as power cables for heavy-duty equipment in industries, power to air conditioners, air compressors, generators and power stations. They also manufacture battery cables for automobile use.

Builders outlet, the sales and marketing arm of CCC, was established in 1999, at a time when diversification was necessary. In the past, CCC exported to the wider Caribbean CARICOM market and was named champion exporter in 1995.
