Last year's ScotiaBank Valencia CF Next Generation Football Camp scholarship winners have encouraged fellow youngsters to "learn to adapt to new situations", during Monday's launch of this year's training festival, at Spanish Court Hotel, New Kingston.

"A player needs to adapt to new situations," said Martin Davis, one of last year's scholarship winners, when asked what advice he would give to other young players.

It has been a year since Davis and Luca Levee were awarded scholarships to train in Valencia, Spain.

Following that stint, both players were called back to continue training with Valencia.

They shared their experiences in Spain and noted how this opportunity has impacted them.

The boys said it has contributed to their personal, as well as tactical development, and they both now have a better understanding of the game. Both youngsters play midfield position.

A whole new

Sixteen-year-old Davis, who is at Levante, has just finished playing in the Villareal Cup in Spain and noted that he is aiming to make his name known to the world. He said the camp is providing the opportunity for this.

"I have developed into a whole new player and now I have a better tactical approach to the game. At first, it was hard, because I am young, but I am now more aware of what I will do on the field and I know things my peers probably don't," said Davis.

"The experience I've had in Spain was a positive one and I now know a little spanish," he added.

Levee, who is also 16, is training with Hurricane Valencia. He said his experiences have taught him a lot and he now has a better understanding of the game.

"At first it was hard adapting to the new culture, and I might have talent and all, but I learned a lot," said Levee.

"I can now say that I have a better understanding of the game, which is from a different aspect from when I was training here in Jamaica," he added.

"I have developed into a more tactical player. The technique I learned was new to me and I am now patient in my approach to the game."

Levee, who idolises Spain's star attacking midfielder Andre Iniesta, is hoping he can be as good as, or better than, his idol.
