ATL to sell Apple products
Jamaica has its fair share of adherents to Apple mobile products.
Electronics retailer Appliance Traders Limited (ATL) is banking on local technophiles to drive sales in its electronics division, having signed up with global IT distributors Tech Data Corporation to sell Apple's line-up of iPads, iPods, Apple TV and MacBooks among other devices.
The iPhone is also to be added to the line-up.
"We have inked a very attractive agreement with our suppliers Tech Data, the details of which unfortunately, we are not able to disclose for competitive reasons," general manager of ATL and assistant deputy chairman of ATL Group, Ian Neita, said Thursday.
He told Sunday Business that ATL is hoping to see a surge in revenue from the new product line.
ENHANCE ATL'S PORTFOLIO
"With the increasing demand for the latest computer and consumer electronics we expect that the addition of the Apple products will enhance our portfolio in this category. Overall, computers and consumer electronics account for 20 per cent of ATL's overall business and project that Apple will form a significant part of this product grouping," he said.
The Apple products will be available at all ATL's Kingston, Montego Bay and Ocho Rios stores as well as its online shopping portal.
The agreement with Tech Data makes ATL an 'authorised reseller', allowing the appliance company to use the official Apple logo in its promotional materials.
"Apple holds their authorised dealers to very high standards, as is known worldwide. We are expected to conform to brand guidelines in product displays, etc. ensuring that the consumer is able to interact with and experience the product fully. As the premier custodians of international brands in Jamaica we are confident that our representation of this renowned brand will be compliant to their high standards," Neita said.
Neita declined comment on the terms of the agreement.
ATL has operated in Jamaica for 45 years.
