WESTERN BUREAU:Ground-breaking for the construction of the multimillion-dollar GWest Medical Complex is expected to take place in early June at the Fairview Business Centre in Montego Bay, St James.
The 60,000-square foot complex, when completed, will be the Second City's largest dedicated medical facility outside of the Cornwall Regional Hospital, with four levels, three elevators, and 42 strata units for rental, and according to the developers, it is expected to be the choice for ambulatory medical needs. The project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2015.
Real estate company Coldwell Banker Jamaica Realty has the contract to secure sale and lease agreements for the complex.
It will cost prospective buyers US$295 per square feet of space, while those wishing to lease will need to find the average lease price of US$32 per square ft per year.
"We have assembled a team of medical and business professionals to refine this concept of a medical one-stop shop with support services," said Dr Konrad Kirlew, the principal medical professional behind the project.
