OCHO RIOS, St Ann:TWO ST ANN schools, Steer Town Academy and Parry Town Primary, are among a list of educational institutions which will receive tablets under the Ministry of Education's Tablets in Schools project, starting this school year.

Under the programme, one teachers' college, 12 high, 11 primary, six pre-primary, four all-age, one junior high and one special institution will see students and teachers getting tablets.

"All grades will be getting and we have about a thousand students," a source at Steer Town Academy confirmed last Friday. "They should start distributing to grade-seven students on September 3."

The source said teachers have already received their tablets and have been trained in its usage.

The tablets will be used by teachers to create lesson plans and teach. All tablets will be able to access the Internet, which the Ministry of Education says will be provided free of cost to the schools.

The project is an initiative of the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining and is expected to boost the teaching and learning process over time.
