JTA wants education debate

The Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA), is expressing disappointment that education as a priority is not included in the upcoming national political debates.

After weeks of extensive negotiation, the ruling Jamaica Labour Party and the People’s National Party have agreed to three debates.

There will be a 90-minuite team debate of socio-economic issues, a 60-minute debate between the Minister of Finance and his Opposition counterpart and a 60-minute leadership debate between the Prime Minister and the Opposition Leader.

However, the JTA says it is not happy that education was not given prominence given its significance to national development.
