Government ministers Dr Wykeham McNeill and Phillip Paulwell along with representatives of the port authority, tourism and mining interests met yesterday at the Reynolds Pier in Ocho Rios, St Ann to discuss the future of the pier.

The Reynolds Pier which falls under the Ministry of Mining is currently being used for the export of lime stone and as a cruise ship dock.

Tourism interests have been calling for an upgrade of the facility for several years.

According to tourism minister, the discussions are to determine the best way forward for Jamaica.

Regarding an upgrade of the facility, Dr McNeill said it was a distinct possibility but a lot of discussions would first have to take place.
