The Office of the Prime Minister has confirmed that Government Senator, K.D Knight, is the new chairman of the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) board.
John Cooke is to be his deputy.
Cabinet approved the 22- member board of directors for the agency yesterday.
The announcement was made last evening in a statement released by the Office of the Prime Minister.
Last night, Knight declined to discuss his plans for the UDC, saying he first wants to have discussions with the minister that has responsibility for the agency.
The UDC board also includes another Government Senator Lambert Brown, economist Ralston Hyman, People’s National Party Councillor Marsha Francis, businessman Reynold Scott and clergyman Father Michael Lewis.
In the meantime, Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller had said Cabinet has also signed off on a new board of directors for the National Housing Trust (NHT).
However, Information Minister Sandrea Falconer said the names of the NHT board members have not been released because they have not yet been ratified by the Cabinet.
The naming of the UDC board comes four months, after the previous board members for the two state-owned entities resigned to allow the new administration to select its own slate of directors.
