Lime to cut call rates

Published:Thursday | June 14, 2012 | 8:37 AM

Telecommunications company LIME is to cut its call rates.

While not providing details, LIME’s Chairman, Chris Dehring, said the move comes in light of new opportunities brought about by changes to the Telecommunications Act.

Dehring said the recent cut in the mobile termination rate by the Office of Utilities Regulation, for incoming domestic and international telephone calls to $5 per minute also influenced the company’s decision.

It’s understood that LIME’s call rate could move down to about $6 per minute.

LIME charges $8 a minute for calls within its network.

A rate of $12 a minute is charged for calls to other mobile networks.

The announcement on the new rates is expected to be made at a press conference set for 2 p.m. today.
