Cops urged to be on high alert after constable's death
The Police High Command is warning cops in rural Jamaica to be on high alert following the murder of Special Constable Troy Foster in Malvern, St Elizabeth, on Thursday.
The Police High Command says it’s issuing the warning based on the intelligence that criminal elements are migrating from the Corporate Area to the rural areas of the island to avoid being captured.
It says this practice has rendered law enforcement more challenging for police personnel working in rural areas.
Police Commissioner Owen Ellington notes that policing has become more dynamic in recent years as criminals have become more brazen and are not afraid to attack the police at anytime and anywhere.
He is also urging citizens to partner with the Police in fighting against crime and report every suspicious activity they see in their areas.
