UWI to offer reparation course
The University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona campus will soon be offering a course on reparation.
The course, which is being designed by Lecturer in the Department of Government, Dr Clinton Hutton, will examine the issue of compensation for slavery in the Caribbean.
Speaking at the recent JIS Think Tank, Hutton said the curriculum will examine the argument for reparation within a historical context.
He said it is important to educate the Caribbean population about the issues of slavery and reparation, as many young people still do not see a connection between themselves and their enslaved ancestors.
