Almost four months into his tenure as managing director of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), Colin Campbell says some level of stability has been brought to the operations of the bus company.

Campbell’s appointment became effective on August 12.

He told The Gleaner/Power 106 News that before taking up the post, there was a six-month delay in acquiring spare parts which resulted in buses being taken off the road for up to 500 days.

Campbell said this significantly impacted revenue inflows for the JUTC which incurs $600 million in monthly expenses.

However, with the August fare increase and the intensification of efforts to clamp down on fraud and other revenue leakages, the JUTC boss says the company is becoming more efficient.

Meanwhile, Campbell says his short term goal is to increase revenues to $400 million per month.

He says before he was appointed revenues was at $200 million a month and since August, the average monthly income is $320 million.
